What is the difference between the shading performance of single-sided velvet jacquard curtains and ordinary blackout cloth?

1. Shading principle and effect

(1) Single-sided velvet jacquard curtain
The shading effect is achieved by using woven shading technology, usually through high-density weaving process or adding black shading silk (such as PT/black silk). For example, in the double-layer structure, the surface layer uses matte PPT raw material and the middle layer uses black PT raw material to form a tight shading layer with a shading rate of more than 95%.
The jacquard process makes it both decorative and functional. The pattern design is achieved through tissue weaving. The shading performance is stable and the air permeability is good.
The single-sided velvet structure (one side is velvet and the other side is glossy) provides a soft touch while shading, which is suitable for scenes such as bedrooms that require a high shading rate.

(2) Ordinary shading cloth
Common types include coated shading cloth (such as silver coating, PVC coating) and simple woven structure. The coated type achieves a high shading rate by adding shading materials (such as silver glue) to the surface, but there are environmental risks (exceeding formaldehyde and toluene standards) and poor air permeability.
The shading effect of single-layer ordinary blackout cloth is limited (shading rate is about 80%), and the pattern is single, mostly relying on post-printing or embossing technology.

2. Material and environmental protection

(1) Single-sided velvet jacquard curtain: mainly polyester, partially added with hemp bamboo fiber or silk thread, in line with environmental protection standards (such as European WG standards), no irritating odor.

(2) Ordinary blackout cloth: Coatings (such as PVC, silver coating) are easy to release harmful substances, and long-term use may affect health; if black silk is not added to the woven type, the shading performance is weak.

3. Functional expansion and applicable scenarios

(1) Single-sided velvet jacquard curtain:
It has composite functions such as sound insulation, heat insulation, and UV protection. It is suitable for high-end hotels, family bedrooms and other scenes with high requirements for shading and decoration.
The jacquard process makes the pattern three-dimensional and exquisite, with various styles (such as European style, modern simplicity), meeting personalized needs.
(2) Ordinary blackout cloth:
Single function, coating type is mainly for blackout but poor durability (easy to become brittle, silver loss after washing), mostly used in temporary or low-cost scenes.
Simple woven type (such as single-layer polyester fiber) has a low blackout rate and needs to be used with blackout lining
